Happy Blogging-Birthday to me!
Today is the one-year anniversary of my very first blog post. What a year it has been!
When I started this blog, I thought I would write only about educational leadership and change management but as the year has progressed I have found myself incorporating more and more posts about technology and Web 2.0 — which, in reflection, seems like a natural evolution of my thoughts on education in the 21st century. In other words, it’s okay that the topics of my posts have gradually included more ideas about integrating tech not only in teaching, but also in educational leadership and change management. I’m comfortable with that because I have never viewed technology as an add-on — it has always been an integral component of the learning process for me.
In reflecting on the past year, I am overwhelmed at how my world-view has changed… (and this is just the “short list”)
- I started blogging — I became part of the conversation in a much larger way than I ever imagined
- I started using wikis for collaboration and knowledge management
- I incorporated podcasts into my personal learning plan
- I’ve made many new “critical” friends — people who encourage and expand my learning, people who inspire me and enlighten me, people who have become a part of my personal learning network
- I’ve taken a new journey that has started to open new doors for me
- I’ve encountered many more innovative visions for what our schools can (and should) become
- My world has become flat
- My world has become more dynamic
- My world has become wall-less (or wall-neutral)
- My world is now more about “learning anywhere at anytime and by any means necessary” (nod to Christian Long) — and this extends to my view about what school must become as well as my own learning
What a wonderful year it has been
I’m looking forward to the next 12 months with all of you! Thanks for being on this journey with me!

Congratulations. I had my one year anniversary back in December. I too am amazed at how blogging has changed my learning experience, views on education, and my methods of communications.
