Five Ways That My Work Has Changed

Posted by: Stephanie in Categories: Instructional Technology, Leadership, Professional Development, Web 2.0.

Here’s a short list of 5 ways in which my work — or methods of productivity — has/have changed over the past year:

  1. I am using Google Docs more and more frequently — it is becoming my “app of choice” for generating documents for work (especially when those docs require collaboration with others).
  2. I seek input from my Personal Learning Network through my blog and online communities when initiating most projects.
  3. I think first of “how can I solve this problem with an online solution” before using traditional methods. Example: Developing a Moodle-based training “binder” instead of just creating physical binders for people being trained.
  4. I use email less often and only when necessary. I now prefer more immediate communication methods such as IM, Twitter, or traditional face-to-face or phone calls.
  5. I have become a less-patient user of traditional “tools” such as paper walk-through forms, paper memos, newsletters, or meetings without agendas or skilled facilitators, etc.

How has your work changed in the past year?
