What Did I Learn About Learning in 2007

What did you learn about learning in 2007?
I think the best way to answer this question would be to highlight some of the thoughts or experiences I had during this past year.
The big ideas or learning that stood out for me in 2007 include…
…The network IS more powerful than the node — learning is social and spontaneous learning can be viral and powerful. A Personal Learning Network is vital to 21st Century learning. “We must collaborate or perish.”
…In order for us to facilitate learning in others, we must first model & participate in our own learning.
…Learners as teachers can be a powerful learning experience.
…In order to transform what is happening in our classrooms/learning environments, I better darn sure “practice what I preach”.
…and finally…
…Our students aren’t necessarily as Tech Savvy as we think — Tech Comfortable yes, but savvy about professional and educational uses for tech, not necessarily so. We need to explicitly teach them how to use tech efficiently, effectively and professionally.
I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone in my Personal Learning Network for such a fun and exciting year of learning! I hope that 2008 brings all of us more of what we experienced in 2007!
