Several weeks ago I posted a “help” message regarding the need for a location for a Classroom 2.0 LIVE Workshop that I am helping to organize for the Houston, Texas area in mid-June. I am happy to announce that we do have a location and that the event is FREE to all interested Houston-area educators. Here are the details:
Classroom 2.0 LIVE Workshop
Friday, June 20, 2008
8:30 am – 4:30 pm
Location: Lone Star College-CyFair
9191 Barker Cypress Rd, Cypress, TX 77433
This workshop is FREE to all Houston-area educators and the purpose of the workshop is to bring together educators who are interested in integrating the use of Web 2.0 tools into their classrooms, schools, and districts. We are planning to have two strands — one for beginners and one for more advanced users — and all sessions will engage participants in discussions around the topics.
We hope that this “unconference” where people are engaged, learning together, and networking rather than passively sitting through formal presentations will give Houston educators the opportunity to network with each other for the purpose of creating a loosely-joined local group focused on learning more about integrating new technologies in the classroom.
Anyone who attends is welcome to propose sessions and volunteer to help lead the discussions during any of the sessions. Everything is being organized through a wiki — http://www.classroom20wiki.com/Houston+2008.
Attendees can “register” by editing the following wiki page with their personal information: http://www.classroom20wiki.com/Attending+Houston+2008
Sessions can be proposed here: http://www.classroom20wiki.com/Houston+2008+Session+Offers
The tentative agenda can be viewed here: http://www.classroom20wiki.com/Houston+2008+Agenda
If you are in the Houston area please plan on attending, and please consider proposing a session or volunteering to help facilitate a session discussion. If you have questions or would like more information, please email me.
