Announcing the official Web2ThatWorks.com Wiki Contributor Contest!
If you aren’t sure what the Web2ThatWorks.com wiki is, then please take a look. The contest is open to any and all educators who have used Web 2 tools in the classroom in alignment with research-based effective learning strategies.
Here is how the contest works:
- Visit Web2ThatWorks.com and review the 9 categories of effective instruction from “Classroom Instruction that Works: Research-Based Strategies for Increasing Student Achievement (ASCD)” (Robert J. Marzano, Debra J. Pickering, Jane E. Pollock).
- Register with the site in order to contribute to the information.
- Click on the edit button on any of those 9 pages to add your personal example from your school or classroom under the “Examples from teachers, students, classrooms, schools” section on each page (it’s the last section on each page).
- Your example must be the use of a web-based Web 2.0 tool in a way that aligns with strategies that align with the category under which you are listing the example. For instance, if your students used a wiki to collaborate with students in another school, then this example would be included under the “Cooperative Learning” category. Examples are more effective if they include a link to the actual product if possible (although this is not a requirement for winning the contest.)
- All contributors must include a link to some form of electronic communication — your email address, twitter ID, or Skype ID. Otherwise, there will be no way to contact you.
- You may contribute an unlimited number examples in any category.
How to win:
Under each category a random number from 1 to 4 will be chosen and the example falling on that number in order from today (Friday, June 6) will be the winner. There will be 9 winners — one under each category. Example: Under one of the categories the random number is #3. The example that was posted 3rd (from today) will be the winner. All posts/edits are date & timed stamped — so tracking the order of contributors will be easy.
What do the winners win?
Each winner will be awarded with the following:
- Inclusion on a Web2ThatWorks.com Contributor “Hall of Fame” page within the wiki.
- Web2ThatWorks.com Contributor “Hall of Fame” button for your website or blog.
- A free virtual presentation (using Skype or Ustream) by me to the winner’s audience of choice (team of teachers, faculty, or leadership/admin team).
- Grand Prize — From the winning contributions, one will be selected to be highlighted during my upcoming NECC presentation.
DEADLINE: All contributions that will be considered for this contest must be added to the wiki between today, Friday, June 6, and next Friday, June 13.
Winners will be announced (and notified) on Sunday, June 15th.
So what are you waiting for? Share your examples today and be a winner!
